R.I.P.
Sr Winifred Muriel died peacefully on Friday 25 November 2011 at McCulloch House, Clayton. She was 93 years old and had been a professed Sister of the Community for 67 years. Before joining C.H.N., she was a parishioner of St Peter’s, Murrumbeena. During her time in the Community, Sr Winifred worked in the Children’s Homes in Brighton, Darling and Goulburn, and was involved in the local parish of St Matthew’s and St Francis, Cheltenham. Sr Winifred is best remembered for her years of work at the Kingston Centre from 1984, when she began assisting the part-time chaplain at that time. She was also well-known for her beautiful calligraphy, from which cards are still being reprinted.
The Community House Chapel was crowded for the funeral, conducted by the Warden, Rev. Graham Reynolds, on Tuesday 29 November. The eulogies were given by Rev. Andre Hassing and Sr. Ruth. We give thanks to God for the faithful life of Sr Winifred Muriel C.H.N.

Profession anniversary
Sr Valmai marked her fifty year profession anniversary on October 26. A Eucharist was celebrated at the Community House Chapel by Rev. Tat Hean Lie, assisted by the Warden. She was joined on the day by family from inter-state, friends, colleagues and Sisters who enjoyed a light luncheon after the service. Those present heard a thoughtful and entertaining address by Sr Ruth who recalled some of the qualities that have marked Sr Valmai’s vocation.

90th birthday
Sr Penelope celebrated her 90th birthday at the Community House on July 17th, with her sisters and many friends. Her niece Judy came over from South Australia, Sr Penelope’s home state, to represent other members of the family at the celebrations.

Installation of Sister Carol
On April 12, Archbishop Freier installed Sr Carol as the new Mother Superior of C.H.N. The chapel service was attended by Sisters, family and friends, and all enjoyed a celebratory lunch in the refectory.  See more of the occasion here.

Changes
Sister Margaret Anne and Sister Avrill have both recently returned to live at the Community House. Sister Margaret Anne maintains her parish involvement at St Christopher’s, South Oakleigh, while Sister Avrill continues as part-time Pastoral Assistant at St Peter’s Eastern Hill.
After nearly eighteen years as Assistant Priest at All Souls’ Parish, Sandringham, Sr. Margot has now taken up a new ministry as part-time Associate Priest at St Matthew’s Cheltenham.
As Sister Jean is now in need of more care, she has moved from Fairway Hostel in Sandringham to Rosehill Aged Care Facility in Highett, where she will continue her ministry.
